Update, Aug. 19: The Tambour Utility Case is temporarily unavailable as we wait for a new batch of an essential parts from a a supplier.  We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Product Description:
Shown here in our Amber finish, this chic organization piece adds a touch of retro flair to any room. “Tambour” refers to its special doors, made of narrow wood slats that curve so the doors disappear into the sides of the cabinet as they glide smoothly open from the center.

The stylish doors make this a charming item when they’re closed; however, the vanishing doors not only mean easy access to items inside, they also let you attractively display items by leaving the case open.

Customize the interior space with the two adjustable shelves. One shelf in the middle position provides two spaces ideally sized for a classic use for this mid-century modern favorite: storing vinyl records.

For audiophiles valuing the warm sound of analog recordings, the M 179 Tambour Utility Case perfectly stores about 200 LPs, and the doors close without touching the records. Place your turntable on top, or use two of these cabinets side by side to add room for a power supply or accessories. If you want to use interior space for accessories, we’ll custom drill wire access holes in the back panel to your specifications.

Whatever you use it for, this artful piece crafted from Northern Yellow Birch makes a natural statement and easily works with a wide range of décor. Heywood-Wakefield’s state-of-the-art Amber finish protects the furniture’s surface area while letting the wood’s original beauty come through clearly.

Dimensions:
32″ H x 24″ W x 17″ D
Note: Two interior shelves included.

  • Two centuries of experience

We started in a barn in Gardner, MA in 1826. 199 years later, we're still building furniture in Massachusetts. From inventing machines and techniques that changed the industry in the 19th century to making great modern design accessible in the 20th, Heywood-Wakefield has helped write the story of furniture making in America.

  • Quality that lasts generations

There's a reason so much vintage Heywood-Wakefield furniture is still around. Our materials, craft and engineering are of the highest level. Our pieces are passed down generations, continuing to perform and delight decades later. We're proud to carry on a tradition of exceptional New England furniture making.

  • An iconic design heritage

Some of the 20th century's most influential designers contributed to Heywood-Wakefield, including Leo Jiranek, Gilbert Rohde, Russell Wright, Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky, and W. Joseph Carr. Our pieces are iconic, instantly recognizable and an important part of the modern design movement in America.

  • Great service (and free shipping)

We are a small company run by two families. When you order from us, you'll deal with real people who want nothing more than to impress you with the experience. You can call us for questions and advice (we're on EST) and we will happily help.

Oh . . . and shipping in the lower 48 is always free.
