Description:
The original Heywood-Wakefield M 539 Encore Blanket Chests were only produced from 1952 to 1953. They are quite rare and something of a holy grail for collectors today.
Now you can own a new production of this classic item, shown here in our Amber finish, that's is true to the original except that it's 3.5'' taller. This provides more storage space, with today's comforters made thicker than their 1950s counterparts. Also, it's a comfortable seating height, and it props the mirror up higher (after all, Americans are, on average, taller today than in the mid-century years).

Why Heywood-Wakefield?
Read our story-
Two centuries of experience
We started in a barn in Gardner, MA in 1826. 199 years later, we're still building furniture in Massachusetts. From inventing machines and techniques that changed the industry in the 19th century to making great modern design accessible in the 20th, Heywood-Wakefield has helped write the story of furniture making in America.
-
Quality that lasts generations
There's a reason so much vintage Heywood-Wakefield furniture is still around. Our materials, craft and engineering are of the highest level. Our pieces are passed down generations, continuing to perform and delight decades later. We're proud to carry on a tradition of exceptional New England furniture making.
-
An iconic design heritage
Some of the 20th century's most influential designers contributed to Heywood-Wakefield, including Leo Jiranek, Gilbert Rohde, Russell Wright, Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky, and W. Joseph Carr. Our pieces are iconic, instantly recognizable and an important part of the modern design movement in America.
