Look Back at Some Horrifying Foods from the Mid-Century Years

We thought we’d have some culinary fun with this post, rounding up a few web pages that show vintage horrifying foods from the mid-century years. You know… all those classic cringe-worthy Jell-0 molds, those bizarre combinations of sweet and savory ingredients, those acts of insanity in loaf form, those very non-saladlike amalgamations called salads, those questionable concoctions made from canned meats, and so on.

There are even some recipes on some of these pages, just in case you feel inspired to recreate the most unappetizing dishes from the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s. If you’ve been trying to figure out what to make for dinner tonight, you’re welcome!

So, click or tap through and enjoy these lists of horrifying foods from the mid-century years. Hopefully they won’t trigger unpleasant flashbacks, because these certainly aren’t the meals that fond family memories are made with. And be warned—these aren’t for the faint of stomach.

As a side note, it’s slightly amusing how many of these articles use the word “actually” in their title.
