Every piece of Heywood-Wakefield furniture is built to order and built to last more than 100 years. Our home furnishings are handed down to children and grandchildren, who go on to enjoy their timeless aesthetic and the ability to easily refinish to suit their own tastes and purposes.
Production of each piece of furniture starts when an order is placed. Our customers don’t get anything that’s been sitting around in a warehouse.
It begins with hand-selection of the perfect lumber, all rigorously inspected for color, grain, knots, and other considerations needed for the particular item.All lumber comes from sustainable tree farms in the US, and all our furniture is made in America.We employ Master Craftsmen, and there are only a handful in the country capable of crafting wood to Heywood-Wakefield standards. Although we use some machinery and technology, every item we produce involves skilled handwork, from forming to assembling and finishing.Even the elegant curves and delightful shapes of Heywood-Wakefield’s mid-century modern furniture are all painstakingly crafted from single pieces of lumber. When we say “solid wood,” we mean it. We do not use common shortcuts like gluing together multiple pieces of lumber to create curves and other shapes, as these invariably reduce the durability and aesthetic appeal of the furniture.
