We are often asked whether our 100% wool area rugs are hand-made. The answer is yes. Our rugs are hand-tufted, which means they are produced by a skilled craftperson using a tool called a tufting gun. This technique is similar to that used for hand-knotted rugs - which cost thousands of dollars even for a small rug - and using tufting equipment still requires skill and training. Both rugs are hand-made, but because hand-tufted rugs can be produced in less time than hand-knotted rugs, and the same materials are used in either process, you get a beautiful, high-quality hand-made rug at much less cost.
